THE DELIA GAZETTE: We’re on the high-speed, downward slide into Spring! (Hopefully!)

By Lonni Pedneault

This is short notice for anyone who would like to attend a town hall event with Damien Kurek, MP in Delia on January 17. Meeting is at the Delia Drop In Centre from 5:00-7:00 pm. Coffee will be provided.

Karen from the Drumheller Family and Community Support Services will visit the Delia Drop In Centre at 10:00 am on January 18 to discuss the Heart To Home Meal program with Seniors. Anyone who would like information about this program is welcome to attend.

Speaking of delivery, the Highland Market has shared on FB that they have begun graciously offering a delivery service within 5 km of Delia for those who can’t get out due to illness or mobility concerns. Just call the market at 403-364-3330.

The Delia School Travel Club appreciates all the discarded electronics people have brought to the library for fundraising. The bins still have room for more so if you replaced old electronics recently (find something under the tree?) please consider dropping the old outdated electronics and small appliances for recycle at the Delia Library before Monday, January 22, before the bins are removed. The kids really appreciate all your help!

The Delia Library invites you to join the ‘Winter, Absolutely Hysterical Book Club’. Drop in at the library on January 24 at 6:30 pm. They have 3 books they will read, then get together for a social evening of nibbles and discussion. The club will meet January 24, February 28 and March 27. To view the titles selected, visit Delia Municipal Library on Facebook.

The Delia Curling Club has their next Wing Night on January 25 and is open to everyone.

The Delia and District Historical Society has their AGM on February 8 at the Drop In Centre starting with a potluck supper at 6:00 pm, followed by the Annual General Meeting and everyone is welcome to join.

Hopefully, everyone survived the days and nights of the Arctic Vortex. The extreme cold was rough – but if we’re lucky, we can get back to the spoiled winter we had before the cold set in. Now that January is half over, we’re on the high-speed, downward slide into Spring!

To receive the free monthly Delia & District Events calendar in your email, please let me know and if you have any news or shareable tidbits about people, places or events in our community please email me at alonni1199@gmail.com. Until next time, stay well and enjoy life!
