I love Delia! There's always something happening!

First, there has been a shuffle in our Mayor's office. The Mayor is now Jordan Elliot, and Jim Adams is the Deputy Mayor as Dave Sisley steps back in the shoes of councillor due to health concerns.

Reminder! The Delia & District Day Trippers will head to Rosebud Theatre on November 2 to see the 7:30 p.m. preview Christmas performance of "All Is Calm." Advanced tickets are to be purchased before October 20 by contacting Terry at 403-364-2149 or Carol at 403-821-1048 (or for more information). Carpooling is available. Everyone is welcome!

Please help support our Library by attending the Scholastic Book Fair during library hours from October 23 to 27. Family Night is October 26 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. There will be draws and prizes!

DIY Project Night in the Library on October 19 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Explore kits like Rainbow Loom, Origami, Duct Tape Creations, Snap Circuits, etc.

The Library is hosting a prize basket draw for new & returning users and also a Design-a-Bookmark Contest for kids of all ages! Bookmarks must be submitted by October 31, winners will be announced on November 2, and prizes will be awarded. Pick up your template for your bookmark creation at the Library!

On Friday, October 13, the Library held a Paint Night, and the picture was of a Fall Gnome. It was such a delightful event, served with delicious mocktails and salsa. You can see my painting if you check out Delia & Surrounding Areas' Facebook page – mine is sandwiched in there amongst the Picassos and Van Goghs.

Check back for more exciting upcoming events at the Library, or visit www.deliaLibrary.ca

The Delia School is looking for volunteers to read to the younger elementary students. Email tiffany.scarlett@plrd.ab.ca if you have extra time. All volunteers must have a criminal record check on file with the school.

Also, on Wed, October 25, Oyen visits Delia to play Jr Girls volleyball. Everyone is welcome to come cheer on the players!

On October 24, there is a free flu clinic from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Delia Drop In Centre on Main St. Don't forget the Drop In Cards and Coffee on Tues & Thurs mornings beginning at 9 a.m. and the weekly Cards & Pool night every Wed starting at 7 p.m. at the Drop In Centre too! These are open to everyone – just Drop In!

There are still a couple of seats available for the Creepy Crib Tournament on October 31 at the Drop In Centre. You do not need a partner to play, and costumes are encouraged but not mandatory – being comfortable is priority! Tournament starts at 10 a.m., but people need to show up by 9:30 a.m. Contact Carol at 403-821-1048 to register. Lunch will be provided.

Last Saturday's Elton Lammie fundraiser concert/auction raised over $15,000 to help keep the Delia Community Centre operating, and the Community Centre Association is thankful to everyone for their generosity and the volunteers for their dedication and Elton Lammie for providing the excellent entertainment!

And for the Yard Sale buffs, Barb is having a Moving/Downsizing Sale on Oct 26 -28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 106 – 2nd Ave E (Delia).

And here's good news for public skating lovers! The Delia Arena will be having public skating on Fridays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. Concession will be open.

And please don't forget; that the high school Travel Club is fundraising for their upcoming trip to Europe, and you can help by bringing in your old electronics, printers, microwaves, radios, keyboards, broken phones, televisions, etc. for recycling. Please drop them off at the Delia Library before November 10. The kids really appreciate your help.
