Sibbald News: Crossroads Beef Expo took place

By Lee Switzer

This week has been a very busy one for many of our families. The kids are off school and lots of events have taken place.

On February 17 and 18 the annual Crossroads Beef Expo took place. Clark Huston and Jerilyn Norris entertained the crowds with their singing and playing on Saturday. Rob Mundt smoked brisket donated from several cattle breeds including beef from East Sounding Creek Beef 4-H donated by Greg & Jerilyn Norris and Clarbyrn Farms (Clark & Byrne Huston and Trent & Marika Lyster). The Youth show took place on Sunday. Local youth participating included the Lysters, the Woods and the Norris family.

Deep sympathy is extended to the family and friends on the sudden passing of Joe Dill. Joe was a helicopter pilot who worked with Adriaan Bouwer specializing in aviation agricultural work in the Oyen, Sibbald, and Acadia Valley areas. A celebration of his life took place on February 20 at the hall.

East Sounding Creek held its club Speak Offs on Wednesday, February 21 in Oyen. Public speaking is such an important skill and all the young people presenting are to be commended. Taking part in this event were: Macy, Brianna (3rd Junior) and Brandt Lyster, Cooper, Camrie (3rd Intermediate) Coleman, and Cash (3rd Senior) Norris, Dylan (1st Intermediate), Danica (1st Senior) Woods, and Emma, Jade and Winston Smith.

There will be a bridal shower for Payten Materi on Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 at the hall. Payten is marrying Sam Loch in early June.

Spring like weather seems to be upon us. Hopefully bringing some heavy wet snow storms! Take care everyone.
