Scammers targeting ATCO Electric customers

Fraudulent activity targeting ATCO Electric customers via the phone has increased in recent weeks. These scammers are calling customers directly and posing as ATCO representatives, threatening to disconnect or withhold power unless customers provide them with payment. THIS IS A SCAM.

Please be cautious and aware of this suspicious activity.

Note that ATCO Electric would NEVER ask customers for payment, as they do not collect money directly from customers for utility bills. ATCO Electric will NEVER ask you to provide payment by any method, including by telephone or in-person.
If you receive a suspicious phone call, we urge you to hang up and do not provide personal banking or payment information over the phone.

As a trusted source of information within your respective communities, we are kindly asking if you could share the below PSA at your discretion, as our objective is to increase public awareness and minimize customers falling victim to these scams. The areas we are trying to target in our service territory include: Grande Prairie, Oyen, Bonnyville and Cold Lake.
