Sibbald News: Carcass Beef Achievement Day
By Lee Switzer
Seeding operations are winding down, as the spray season gears up. Grasshoppers and flea beetles are being spotted and sprayed in fields. Glad the wind has settled down. It was brutal for a few days.
Carcass Beef Achievement Day took place on May 14. Results and viewing was at Provost Packers on May 21. Brandt Lyster took the award for best rate of gain and Intermediate judging awards. Brianna Lyster tied with a fellow 4-H member for Reserve Champion.
Payten Materi and Samuel Loch were married in a beautiful ceremony at the Materi Ranch on June 1. The yard looked great and the tent venue for the reception, supper and dance was magical. Plants and greenery, amazing decor and attention to detail transformed the place. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Loch!
Hall clean up for the upcoming Quilt Show took place on June 5. A super group of community members responded to the call. Wall mops were flying, washing walls and trim, areas were organized and cleaned up. It was a beehive of activity. The hall looks so good. Food committee is busy organizing food for the two day event and many thanks, once more, to the ladies of the community for saying yes when you have been called.
Beef 4-H Achievement Day took place on Saturday June 7 for the heifer show, and June 8 for swine and sheep, cleaver members and the steer show. Great to see all members engaging with one another and helping each other out. The local club, East Sounding Creek, organized and ran the show this year, which is a huge undertaking. The District auctioned off a donation steer and raised over $34,000.00 for Ronald McDonald House which many of our members and local families have used. Excellent work everyone.
The second work bee took place tonight with the display racks being cleaned and set up. Thank you to all who came out and assisted tonight, things are really looking great in the hall for the Quilt Show. Take care everyone.
