BYEMOOR-ENDIANG NEWS: Candlelight Christmas
By Les and Rosemary Stulberg
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church: Scapa, the historic local country church, had a good attendance for its Candlelight Christmas service on December 23. The service was led by Pastor Matt Gillard of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hanna.
In following tradition, Silent Night was sung by candlelight in both English and German.
The weather remained mild; fortunately, road conditions were good for the holidays. We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their families. Now it is time for some much-needed snow.
A good crowd enjoyed the New Year’s Eve family dance in Byemoor on December 31. Folks kicked up their heels to the music of Dally Up and Dance of Hanna to usher in 2024, complete with fireworks. Happy New Year everyone!
Kent Kobi of Sydney, Australia, was home to Byemoor for the holidays to spend Christmas with his parents, Russ and Linda Kobi and other family members. When that kind of distance is involved, these visits are pretty special.
Miles and Lynne Jones were home for Christmas from their winter getaway in Arizona.
Endmoor Arena in Byemoor had some busy hockey action on the weekend. On January 6, the Endmoor U11 team hosted Consort, and on January 7, the Endmoor U9 team hosted Bowden.
Mark your calendars for more hockey action at Byemoor’s Endmoor Arena on Friday, January 26, at 6 p.m. when the Central Alberta Selects AA team vs. the Camrose AA team are in town.
Attention all curlers, its time to get your team entered in the Byemoor Curling Club’s annual Farmers’ Bonspiel coming up January 29 – February 3. Phone your entries to Eugene Nixon at 403-742-9616 or Justin Jones at 403-741-6784.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Kevin Irion of Lacombe on his sudden passing on December 24 at the age of 59 years. Kevin was the son of the late Ernie and Gail Irion and was raised at Endiang with his siblings Darryl, Rodney, Marilyn and Allan.
Our thoughts are with Kevin’s wife, Annie, and their family and his siblings Darryl (Gracie) Irion, Rodney (Esther) Irion, Marilyn (Fred) Rappel and Allan Irion and their families in their sad loss.
We send condolences to the family of Bob Jones, who passed away on January 1 in Castor. He was 83. Bob was a life-long resident of the Byemoor community. He was one of seven children born to Frank and Mary Jones. His siblings were Gloria, Albert, Casey, Pat, Audrey and Trevor.
Bob and his late wife Della farmed north of Byemoor on the McPhee farm, where they raised their family of three - Jay, Lila and Janetta.
Our thoughts are with Bob’s children Jay, Lila and Janetta and their families, his sister Audrey (Randy) Glasier and other family members in their sad loss.
