Big Country Hospital recognizes volunteers

Ralph and Marvel Jorgensen have been volunteering at the Big Country Hospital for 40 years! For a long time, Ralph and Marvel have shared their love of music at the Big Country Hospital in Oyen. The couple has been married for 69 years, and forty of those years have been spent volunteering!

“We had a family orchestra; that’s the basis of where we started from,” explained Ralph, who is 91 years of age. He said the audience always seems to appreciate their entertainment. Not only does Ralph sing, but he plays the saxophone and the banjo.

“I think the people enjoy what we do, and that’s good,” 87-year-old Marvel agreed, adding that it’s satisfying for them to see the people enjoy their musical presentations.

“It just makes us happy to feel their happiness,” Ralph said. “They don’t hold back!”
