Dalton Stephen Grudecki died in Brooks November 4, 2018, at the age of 21 years.
Dalton was born on January 3, 1997, in Medicine Hat to Christine Marie Grudecki and Felix Brian Matheson. He was raised in Redcliff and graduated with honours from Eagle Butte High School in 2015. Pursuing his passion to further his education, Dalton attended the Medicine Hat College enrolling in Nursing, obtaining honour roll status and was to graduate in May 2019. In preparation of his career, he had been employed at Alberta Health Services as a student RN. He truly found his passion in life helping others. Dalton was unforgettable—his infectious smile and contagious laughter brightened everyone’s day. Dalton was a social butterfly with a beautiful heart and was extremely gifted in creating specialty cakes— he was a little Cake Boss! He loved his LEGO, dinosaurs and horror movies. Dalton’s love for music, fashion and dancing showed in every aspect of his life – he could really bust a move! Dalton was passionate about volleyball and his love for the game spanned through junior high and into his college days. He was not just an exceptional player and team leader, but an enthusiastic motivator, spurring his teammates on to win many city-wide and zone championships. Dalton achieved many certificates in coaching and nursing. As a youth, he participated in Beavers and Cubs. Recently he contributed his creativity to the RN grad committee and he was proud to support the pride movement in Medicine Hat. Dalton loved to travel, embarking on local Canadian adventures and trips as far as Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
He will be forever remembered by the warmth of his enormous hugs and his ability to love wholeheartedly. Dalton leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Christine Grudecki (Steven Bartram); grandmother, Velma Grudecki; uncle, Michael Grudecki (Crystal Melnychuk); children: Ryland, Adrianna and Emersyn; uncle, Phillip Grudecki (Denise Butterfield), children: Connor and Landon; auntie, Tracey Burgart; father, Felix Matheson (Kirsti Spilsbury), children: Jayda Dopp-Matheson, Addison Matheson and Dylan Dopp; grandfather, Robert Matheson; his beloved pet, Roper as well as numerous family members and multitude of friends.
He will be welcomed into the loving arms of many family members and friends who have passed before him. Those wishing to pay their respects could do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, Medicine Hat November 8 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to the Celebration of Dalton’s life which was held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel November 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating.
