Douglas: Mary Elizabeth (nee Davidson), March 20, 1934 -May 24, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Elizabeth Douglas. Mary spent her last days at home, surrounded by her loving family and her beloved cat.
Mary was born in Hillsdown, in her grandparent’s log cabin, to the proud parents Jennie and Robert Davidson March 20, 1934. She grew up on the family farm in Cumberland. She was the eldest of six children: James, Helen, Roberta, Alex and Cathy, all of whom remained a big part of her life.
Mary was one of the first founding members of the Delburne 4-H Beef Club. She graduated from Red Deer Composite High. Mary then went onto the Alberta Collge in Edmonton where she received a Diploma in Office Administration. Mary married Jimmy Douglas June 25, 1955. They had a life together for 64 years. Mary was very active with the dairy and farm life. She was a loving wife and mother, and her greatest joy was her family.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Robert and Jenny Davidson and her grandson Douglas Grosul.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jimmy, her children RoseMarie (Rick), Beth (Dave), Jimmy (Belinda) and Billy (Lynn); as well as nine grandchildren: Allison (Kyle) Raher, Patrick (Stephanie) Webb, Calvin (Joy) Douglas, Troy Grosul, Lyndsey, Rayel, Brandon and Megan Douglas. Mary also had six great-grandchildren: Cheyanne, Brannagh and Paisley Douglas, Ben and Lauren Raher and Hanna Webb. Also, her five siblings, James (Sheila) Davidson, Helen (John) Vincent, Roberta (Mervin) Peters, Alex (Penny) Davidson, and
Cathy (John) Leighton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary had a large extended family and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Red Deer June 4 at 1 p.m. Interment followed at the Alta Reste Cemetery.
Lunch followed at the Cumberland Community Hall, Red Deer County at 3 p.m.
