Blair: Barry William, July 25, 1947 – Sept. 28, 2019

Barry William Blair was born at Cereal, Alberta July 25, 1947, and died in Oyen, Alberta September 28, 2019.

Barry was the eldest of seven children. He was raised on the family farm south of Naco and west of Sedalia. Barry attended Grades 1 and 2 in Naco, Grades 3 to 6 in Sedalia and Grades 7 to 12 in New Brigden.

Barry attended Olds College and was employed by the Alberta Wheat Pool for many years. Oyen was his final post as an elevator agent after which he went on to farm full time.

Farming was in his blood and he followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great-grandfather on the Blair family farm.

Barry was predeceased by his father Archie in 1995.

He is survived by his mother Minnie; five sisters Judy Johnson of Victoria, British Columbia, Carol McLean of Linden, Alberta, Cathy (Leonard) Fuss of Nelson, British Columbia, Marion (Jim) Damiani of Red Deer, Alberta, and Heather (Greg) Berreth of Acme, Alberta; brother Terry (Nancy) of Edmonton, Alberta; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 26, at the Sedalia Community Hall in Sedalia, Alberta. Officiating Clergy is Rev. Helen Reed. The pianist is Darren Fuss and special music will be “Jesus, You Have Come the Lakeshore” by Nick Fuss. Cathy Fuss will be the eulogist. Hymns are “In the Bulb There Is A Flower” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Honorary pallbearers will be all of Barry’s family and many friends who cared and shared in his life.

Memorial tributes may be directed to the Oyen United Church, Box 392, Oyen, Alberta, T0J 2J0; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Following the funeral service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon hosted by the Sedalia Community Club in the Community Hall.
