Taelor Gillis
My name is Taelor, however people call me Kevin (Mccallister), Franklin, or even Taelor-tot when I was younger. My mom is Charlene Gillis, and my great grandma is Margaret Gillis.
I previously attended online school from 2020-2023 and Ponoka Secondary Campus from 2017-2019. In my spare time I like to draw/sketch, do puzzles, learn the guitar, and when I can, I like to go out riding. I love doing any sport I can, which this year I got to be a part of the golf, curling, basketball, and softball teams. My favourite memories from this year include the ski trip, Calgary art trip, curling and golf zones, and especially playing on the basketball team.
Since I was young, I’ve always been invested in animal care. Even at just 6 years old, my go to show was The Incredible Dr. Pol and Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain vet. Thus my future plans have always been to become a vet. Earlier this year, I was accepted into the University of Calgary (Environmental sciences) and the University of Saskatchewan (Animal Bioscience). Ultimately, I chose the University of Saskatchewan, as it was the best step to take in the direction of Veterinary Medicine. My hope is that, once I’ve completed my four years in Animal Bioscience, I will be accepted into the DVM program at USask to then become a Large/Exotic animal vet.
