Special Areas Regional Workplace Development Strategy Update

Special Areas Regional Economic Development launched a Workforce Development Strategy in the late spring of 2022. This project was launched to ensure the Special Areas have the labour force needed for businesses and organizations to thrive. Information collected will identify trends, issues, and opportunities. This information in turn can help form policies and strategies for training, recruitment programs, and other labour force initiatives.

An Employee Survey was conducted in the communities within the Special Areas, and the MD of Acadia, from August – October. Over 600 people answered the questions and shared their thoughts on working in the region of Special Areas and the MD of Acadia. Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey!

Now, it is the employer’s turn. We would like to ask a few questions about your experience with respect to recruiting, retaining, and training your workforce. What are your workforce needs? What challenges are you experiencing? What have you found to be successful?

When the project launched, a third-party vendor, Schollie Research & Consulting, was engaged by the Special Areas Board to prepare the Workforce Development Strategy and has been conducting the survey analysis.

Schollie Research & Consulting will be conducting the employer interviews and employers are being asked to take part via phone or in–person. To schedule a time to meet with the consultant, Elan Baun, please click the Telephone or In-Person Meeting link and choose the time that works best for you.
