Senior’s Week at the Lodge a huge success

Hello everyone. It sure was nice to be active again in our Lodge. June 3rd-June 9th was Senior’s week and it was a very busy week. Monday started with exercises in the morning. Connie Heath with her Clay Cup Company came with her refreshments and fresh cinnamon buns. It was very delicious. Sara Heath and baby Nixon surprised the residents with a visit. It was very nice to see them both. Monday afternoon the Auxillary residents were here for refreshments, cookies and a visit. On Monday evening there was music by Rob Shields.

Tuesday was our regular bus runs in the morning followed by horse races. In the afternoon the Assumption School kids grade 1-4 entertained us with a variety of games. Tuesday evening, I had my appreciation night for my hairdressing clients, which consisted of refreshments, snacks and visiting. Thank you all again.

Wednesday morning started out with exercises followed by bingo. In the afternoon the Residents went to the FCSS building for the ice cream parlour which was decorated in the 50s theme. The residents had a very enjoyable afternoon. Pam and Maryann did a wonderful job. Wednesday evening the Simpsom/Gilmar band entertained us with a variety of music. Everyone really enjoyed their music. The band was dressed in Western attire, and some of the residents also participated in the western theme. Shirley Vanstone won the best dressed prize which was a CD from the band.

Thursday there was a mini mart at the Lodge which consisted of Junita Wagstaff with Avon, Cheri Heatherington with Sweet Treats Baking and Christie Hittel with Cabi Clothing. The annual BBQ was at lunch time, which the kitchen staff always does a great job. In the afternoon the Oyen Public School students and Brad entertained the residents with their Jazz Band. Thursday evening the residents listened to some Cowboy Poetry from Delbert Pratt. The residents really enjoyed listening to some history and some true stories in his poetry.

On Friday there were exercises in the morning followed by Digital Games such as trivia, name that tune and the price is right with the Big Country Adult Learning. The games are good thinking games. In the afternoon FCSS treated us to ice-cream floats, along with the residents meeting their school pen pals. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone that made our Senior’s week such an exciting week. The residents and guests thoroughly enjoyed the weekly events. FCSS and Big Country Learning were a big part of our week. Thanks to you all. Have a great week.

A huge thank you goes out to Lemare Seed Cleaning in Acadia Valley for the wonderful donation for our Senior’s Week in the Oyen Lodge. The Simpsom/Gilmar band was enjoyed by all.
