Oyen RCMP charge male with numerous offences

On December 14, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Oyen RCMP responded to a motor vehicle theft in progress in the Town of Oyen. While the suspect was attempting to flee, he hit a parked vehicle, causing significant damage to both motor vehicles. Then, the suspect fled the scene on foot. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident. As a result of the investigation, the suspect was identified and arrested early the next morning.

Jessey Lang (23), a resident of Oyen, has been charged with the following:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

  • Failing to remain at the scene of a collision

  • Mischief over $5000

  • Uttering Threats (x4)

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

  • Careless Driving

  • Stunting

  • Operate a motor vehicle without a subsisting license

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Lang was remanded into custody until his next court date of December 18, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna
