Oyen Lodge Report Jan 12

By Sara Heath

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a fantastic week; the fog sure was thick! At least the temperature has been a bit warmer than previous weeks.

The residents recently celebrated with ice cream cake for our January birthday bash - we have several birthdays this month. We are also keeping busy with lots of exercises inside since the ground outside is a little uneven with snow, we have been doing exercises in chairs as well as standing and even a exercise that also requires quick thinking too!

On Tuesday, we started with a craft of vases dipped in epsom salts to appear as “frosted glass”. In the afternoon we had a winter time tea with snowflakes decorations, hot tea and snacks for the residents while they got to visit.

On Wednesday we had church service in the morning and in the afternoon some residents attended the funeral of a dear friend over at the senior centre.

Thursday is hair day, the residents get to get their hair done and then we had to the options of ball exercises or cards in the family room, in the afternoon we played an intense round of a game called Stix which is so much fun!

On Friday we started the morning with news of the week discussion with coffee and treats. Moving into horse racing later in the morning, and finishing off our week in the afternoon with a round of bingo!  We hope everyone else had a fun and busy week!
