Oyen Lodge News: Planting flowers and perennials
By Dianne Spath
It’s been a quiet two weeks at the Oyen Lodge. The Lodge was on outbreak, so we were limited to our activities. There were only exercises and bingo with social distancing. The Lodge should be back to normal for Senior’s Week.
A huge thank you goes out to Shirley Vanstone and Bev Haag for their hard work planting flowers and perennials in the front and back yard and around the fishpond. I have already heard some wonderful compliments on how good everything looks. Not only are our fish enjoying the outdoors, but the residents also have been enjoying the spring air. It is so nice to see everyone out walking and enjoying the sunshine. Happy Birthday goes out to Gloria Jorgenson on May 29th.
Seniors Week is June 2nd -June 9th. There is going to be a lot of activity all week. Monday evening is music by Rob Shields, Wednesday is music by the Simpson/Gilmar family band from Consort and music by the Jorgenson’s on Friday. Thursday evening, Delbrert Pratt will entertain us with his Cowboy Poetry. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy our evening entertainment. There will be lots of action during the days, with FCSS and Big Country Learning also participating in our activities. Thursday is our mini-mart with Avon, Cheri Heatherington with Sweet Treats baking, Christie Hittel with Gabi clothing and Kari Kuzmiski with mini pedicures. It will be a busy and exciting week for our residents.
On a personal note, after 30 years of hairdressing at the Oyen Lodge, I have decided to hang up my scissors. I would like to thank all the residents who have supported me in those years. In my hairdressing career at the Oyen Lodge and Auxillary, I have met many seniors and appreciated each one of them. I still get to see them every day at work. Cheri Heatherington and Christie Hittel also do hair at the Lodge. Have a great weekend, everyone.
