Oyen Lodge News: Hail and horse races provide excitement this week

By Dianne Spath

Hello everyone. Wow, the end of April sure surprised us with a bit of a hailstorm. Thank goodness the hail was small, but it still created some much-needed moisture. It was nice to see some rain this week, also. The start of the week was exercises and scrabble games, followed by bingo and piano by Taylor in the afternoon. Tuesday was our regular bus run downtown and crafts in the morning. In the afternoon, there was a game of dominos. Wednesday, we started the day with exercises, then shuffleboard. Birthday wishes would go out to Mary Loose. Thursday was one-on-one with residents, followed by the game sequence in the morning. In the afternoon, there was music by Charlotte & Pat Gilmar from Consort. Everyone enjoyed their music, and we hope to have them back soon. Friday were horse races in the morning. The one race was exciting because five of the six horses were all in a row. There was some cheering going on. In the afternoon, there was bingo. I had a gift certificate for one of the blackouts, and fortunately, three ladies won a gift certificate to Alberta Clothing. Alberta Clothing will be here on May 23. The maintenance men are busy building wooden planters for our flowers and perennials in front of the Lodge. The residents are quite excited, and the planters will look beautiful.  Have a good week, everyone.

The Gilmar’s from Consort provided entertainment on Thursday, while the horse race game caused excitement on Friday morning!
