Jessie Battrum celebrates 80th Birthday

By Diana Walker

Friends and family travelled from near and far to gather in honour of Jessie Battrum’s 80th birthday on June 1, 2024, at the Oyen Seniors Recreation Center—a special day enjoyed by all.

Born in Cereal on May 11, 1944, Jessie grew up on a farm near Sibbald with parents Frank and Eva Wood. Her older sister Jean and George Haw of Seba Beach and brothers Cameron and Lila Wood of Brooks and Larry Busch of Calgary joined the celebration.

Only one grandchild, Justin Bare, and two great-grandchildren, Isabella Bare and Laryssa Allen, were missing.

The festivities included an afternoon come and go tea, family photos, and a catered family supper and social evening.

It was a wonderful celebration highlighting Jessie's birthday and three great-grandbabies, all born within one month of each other!
