Highway 41 Pheasant Festival was a huge success!

The Highway 41 Pheasant Festival hosted a total of 24 teams of hunters at Oyen, AB in conjunction with the Prairieland Athletic Association. The next generation was excited to experience this event, as both young and old participated in another successful hunt.

Macfarlane Pheasants shipped in some beautiful, healthy, huge and lively birds from Wisconsin for the hunt. Wind and rain presented a challenge, nevertheless the majority of teams brought back more than fifty percent of the birds they went out with.

The hunters were rewarded with a delicious banquet catered by the Big Country Ag Society. Kari Kuzmiski was in charge of decorations and Darcy and Tami Olds supplied the decorative sheds. Local generous businesses provided prizes, including the grand prize of a Beretta 12 gauge double barrel over under shotgun, which was won by Tyler Evens.

All of the generous sponsors made this event the success that it was, as well as all the volunteers who helped unload and crate 1,200 birds, marshall and contribute to the event. The volunteers were rewarded with a Sunday volunteer/staff hunt. Everyone looks forward to the pheasant hunt which will return to Oyen in 2023.
