HAND HILLS GRAPEVINE NEWS: Rancher’s Ball
Don’t forget the Rancher’s Ball this coming Saturday
By Marilyn Vredegoor
Hello Hand Hills. Another week has flown by. Crazy things happened throughout this year, and this November is no different. With the nice mild temperatures, we have seen the ice go off the Lake for the most part. It was iced over, but the sun changed that. I guess it is one for the books. The Lake is now blue again and not white. We sure need some moisture, but we will take this nice weather and, yes pay later.
The rewards of my column have reached another person. I received a call from a Lady from Edmonton who was visiting her Mother in Drumheller. Elsie, the Mother, had read my column, and she fondly remembered and, yes dearly missed her old friend from the Drumheller Dormitory, Ella Hayes. The daughter phoned me and said that her Mother was from the Churchill area, and she, too, attended the dorms and talks about them often. I gave the number for Ella, and if the Good Lord Willing, these two 88 and 89-year-old ladies will reconnect. I sure hope to get that call! Larry, we sure have gotten mileage out of our Walmart Greeting Day! Love it!
The smoker is all ready to go, and the Briskets are waiting to be served. Get your tickets for the Rancher's Ball on the 25th. It's going to be a smoking good time!
We went to watch the Senior Boys' Football Game on Friday. It was their last game of the year on Hanna's turf. Many grandparents were there to watch the Grade Twelve boys play their last home game and possibly their last game of the year if they lost. The Hawks won, but a really bad start in the first quarter had the fans on edge. Austin Nelner and Taylor Mashon were the two Grade Twelve players from the Hills who were playing. Both boys played a great game. The pictures with the boys' grandparents are going to be a precious memory. The boys play for the League Championship next week in Red Deer. I bet there will be a huge fan base going to cheer these boys on. The Football Program at JCC is second to none. Congratulations to the coaches and the boys!
Three of my grandkids and I went to Lukes' for supper last week. Greydin says that their soup is the best.! It was a great night. We stopped by Don and Bev Halls' place, as we could see the glow of the lights as we drove around. What an awesome display. Really put me in the Christmas Spirit. Are you for hire, Don and Bev!? Some people count the days till Christmas. I just know that it is coming!
Till next week, it is time for Christmas Spirit, and to me, that means giving!
