Employer Needs Survey

In a crucial initiative aimed at identifying and addressing critical labour force needs, Special Areas Regional Economic Development urges all employers in the region to participate in a significant survey. This initiative is designed to understand the challenges employers face and to develop effective strategies and actionable plans to overcome these obstacles.

The survey period has been thoughtfully extended in recognition of the potentially inconvenient timing during the late fall and the festive period. Our objective is to ensure a more comprehensive representation of our business community in the Special Areas.

Initiated in late spring 2022, the Workforce Development Strategy project was designed to ensure that the Special Areas have a robust labour force, imperative for the success and growth of businesses and organizations. The information gathered through this process will illuminate trends, problems, and potential opportunities, further aiding the formulation of policies, strategies, and labour force initiatives. and include gap analysis.

An Employee Survey conducted from August through October within the Special Areas and the MD of Acadia was met with an overwhelming response from over 600 participants. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in this initiative.

The spotlight is now on the employers.

We invite you to share your insights about recruitment, retention, and training for your workforce. We are keen to understand your workforce’s needs, the challenges you face, and the strategies that have yielded success.

Employers are urged to participate in the survey at: https://schollie.com/SpecialAreas_EmployerSurvey

Elan Buan, a representative from Schollie Research & Consulting, will be visiting the region from June 5th to June 9th, and is eager to connect with various employers to understand their workforce needs and hurdles. To arrange a meeting with Elan Buan, please contact her at 403.346.9849 or elan@schollie.com.

The Workforce Development Strategy Project, a collaborative effort with the Government of Alberta and the Special Areas Board, will make the final report available through Special Areas Regional Economic Development upon completion in the fall.
