Down memory lane

The Oyen Echo’s archives revealed an article celebrating the 75th birthday of the Sibbald Post Office. The post office’s 75th birthday was celebrated on Monday, March 9, 1987, with Postmistress Barbara Chiliak serving coffee and doughnuts to all who came to pick up their mail and be a part of the festivities. Deborah Pearen, Supervisor from Oyen, presented Barbara with a framed certificate commemorating the occasion. Barbara had taken over the post office in 1984.

After serving the public for almost 79 years, Sibbald Post Office closed its doors on March 26, 1991.
