The results from the Endmoor Ball Tournament in Byemoor are as follows:
The 2023 tournament champs winning the A Event were the Barn Cats team (entered by Kary Keith) over the Wacky Wasdals family team (Jordan (Wasdal) Smith).
B Event winners – Master Batters (Tye Mulgrove). 2nd - Happy Hour Heroes (Brady Duncan).
C Event Winners – Almost Heroes (Danny Grover). 2nd - Beerly Legal (Connor Nixon).
D Event Winners – Whiskey Dingers (Sydney Nattestad). 2nd - Swinging Sticks (Kingston Brown).
The Ladies Mini-spiel floor curling tournament was held on Aug. 21 at the Endiang Community Hall. Organized and hosted by Karyn Tateson, it was her annual ladies get-together. About 40 ladies attended with 36 participating in the floor curling.
The winning team was that of Rosemary Stulberg (skip), Val Schultz (third), Theresa Christie (second) and Winnie Paulsen (lead).

The ladies all enjoyed a tasty beef brisket luncheon with all the trimmings and a large dessert assortment. Guest speaker was Angie Ironside, whose message and humour were enjoyed. There was lots of draw prizes and it was a very enjoyable day. Thanks go to Karyn Tateson for her generosity in hosting the event.
Jack and Yvette Hayden recently enjoyed a couple weeks holiday at their cabin in the NWT. It’s situated on an island in Great Slave Lake near Yellowknife. The wild fires are very concerning to all with property in the vicinity.
Russ and Linda Kobi flew to Vancouver to watch their granddaughter Hadley Prehn participate with the Alberta team in the U14 Girls Western Baseball Finals at Richmond, B.C. Congratulations to the Alberta team on their gold medal win in a very close final game against B.C.
Thanks to Zane Nicholson for sharing that some members of the Nicholson family had a mini-reunion and recently toured through Byemoor, Big Valley and Stettler. The family were long-time residents of the Byemoor area. Bernice (Nicholson) Wilson of Edmonton, the last surviving Nicholson sibling along with her daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and J.L. Nolan from Lubbock, Texas where among the family members attending with the group of other relatives.
They visited the location of the original Nicholson farm (on Jim and Gwen Keith’s), the Asdee School site where Bernice went to school (now the County gravel stockpile site), the Wolf Hill and Byemoor cemeteries, the Hartshorn point of interest monument, the former St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Byemoor where Bernice was married (now privately owned) and toured the hamlet of Byemoor.
Big Valley was another stop as that is where Bernice received her high school education along with some other Byemoor girls. Final stop was supper in Stettler with Jim Spencer, whose family were neighbourhood friends of the Nicholson when at Byemoor.
Floor curling is set to resume for the fall season on Monday, Sept. 11 at the Endiang Community Hall at 1 p.m. All are welcome to join in. Floor curling will be every Monday at 1 p.m.
Glen and Theresa Tucker recently enjoyed a month-and-a-half visit from their grandsons Liam and Nathan from Kingston, Ontario. The boys returned home to Ontario on Saturday.
Congratulations to Dot Wasdal on her newest great-grandson, Krew Evander Marchuk, born on Aug. 20. Proud parents are Carly Bignell and Brandon Marchuk and first-time grandparents are Lyle and Wendy Bignell. Congratulations to all on your family addition.
