BYEMOOR ENDIANG NEWS, Aug 21

By Les and Rosemary Stulberg

Byemoor was a hub of activity on the weekend, with 21 slo-pitch teams converging on the hamlet for the Endmoor Ball Tournament. The hamlet's population swelled, with holiday trailers filling most of the available spaces around the town and school grounds.

Folks young and older alike, lined the streets for the Saturday morning parade. Although smaller than usual, the parade still had many nice entries. As usual, the parade entrants tossed generous amounts of candy to the eager youngsters. Best Overall Parade Entry was awarded to Eye Candy Boutique of Hanna.

Pancake breakfasts, a Kid's Carnival and a dance, complimented the ball tournament weekend. Complete results of the ball tournament will follow next week.

Summer is winding down, and the opening of school doors is right around the corner. Byemoor School classes for Grades 1 – 9 begin on September 5, with classes for Kindergarten starting on September 7.

Congratulations to Troy Wilkie and his partner Tarn of Airdrie on the birth of their daughter Quinn Alberta Wilkie on August 3 in Vernon, B.C. Quinn decided to make an early arrival. She weighed seven pounds one ounce. Quinn is welcomed by big brothers Tanner and Cole.

Also, congratulations to the local grandparents, Clifford and Lynda Wilkie.

Cody and Easton Scheerschmidt of Endiang enjoyed a trip to Mobile, Alabama, where they went alligator hunting with some friends there. They got an alligator and got some boating and deep-sea fishing in as well.

Congratulations to former Endiang residents Shawn and Jodi Sunstrum on the expansion of The Sunny Spot east of Drumheller on Highway 10 to include an 18-hole mini-golf course. The popular tourist attraction also has a corn maze and an outdoor eatery that offers a one-of-a-kind selection of tasty foods. A pair of unique dinosaurs imported from Bali, entirely constructed of Teak wood, adorns the golf course. It sounds well worth checking out. Good luck with the remainder of the tourist season, Shawn and Jodi.

Sympathy is extended to Robin and Wes Walker and their family on the passing of Robin's mother, Bernice Cosgrave, in Drumheller. Bernice was well-known and respected in the Chuckwagon community as so many members of her family were involved in the sport. Bernice was their number one fan, and her legacy will live on. Our thoughts are with the Cosgrave family in their sad loss of this remarkable lady.
