The Endmoor Ball Tournament in Byemoor on August 18 – 20 is fast approaching. Entries into the slo-pitch tournament may be phoned to Rae at 403-741-6375. Fireworks will be featured on Friday night.
A pancake breakfast kicks off Saturday, served from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. The parade follows at 11 a.m. Parade entries are invited and most welcome. The Kid’s Carnival begins at 1:00 p.m. at the arena. In the evening, a dance will be held at the arena.
Sunday morning begins with the pancake breakfast being served from 9 – 11 a.m. The slo-pitch finals will wrap up in the afternoon on Sunday. Be sure to attend and join in the fun.
Luann Buchwitz, Brenda Jones, Doreen Nixon and Marylin Norlie returned on July 29 from a week-long bus excursion to points of interest in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. They visited the Medalta Pottery Museum in Medicine Hat, Manitou Springs Resort and Mineral Spa near Watrous, Sask., Danceland Ballroom built in 1928 at Manitou Lake with its famous dance floor built on a cushion of horse hair, the historic Underground Tunnels of Moose Jaw that were used in the past by Chinese immigrants and also by Al Capone during the time of prohibition and the illegal liquor trade, Moose Jaw Hot Springs Spa and toured the Canadian Snowbirds Air Base near Moose Jaw. Sounds like a very interesting trip, ladies.
Kai Tucker participated in the Zone 4 Alberta Summer Games at Okotoks on July 20 – 23 with his Stettler baseball team.
Some members of the Byemoor 4-H Beef Club participated in the Alberta Wildrose Classic Junior Simmental show in Stettler on July 26 – 30. It was a good learning experience for the members.
Cash Buchwitz and his team, the Red Deer Carstar Braves hosted the BAEL 18U AAA Provincial baseball tournament on the weekend. They won all their medal round-robin games and advanced to the semi-finals. Good luck in the finals, Cash.
Russ and Linda Kobi had a busy weekend watching their grandchildren participate in ball tournaments in Stettler. Their grandson Doan Stanger’s team Stettler Storm U18 won silver in Provincial Tier 4, and granddaughter Hadley Prehn’s team Stettler Storm U15 won silver in Provincial Tier 5.
Hadley was named MVP and is off to the Western Finals with the Alberta Female U14 team in Richmond, B.C., on August 17 – 20. Good luck, Hadley.
Happy Birthday wishes are sent to Ethel Hayden, who is celebrating her 99th birthday on August 12. Hope you enjoy this special milestone, Ethel.
