BUFFALO NEWS: Surprise Mother’s Day road trip for Gail Andrus
By Lorraine Monkman
As always, my column seems to report on illness and hospital stays. I'm sorry, but that's life.
This week, I am glad to say Clay Ross is recovering from open heart surgery performed on May 7 in Calgary. Dale Ross also spent a few days at Foothills Hospital. He is home and doing well, I am told.
More recently, Bob Monkman spent a week as a guest of Medicine Hat hospital with infection. He is also glad to be at home again and has recovered nicely.
On a happier note, the whole area was blessed with about 3 inches of rain last week. The grass really is still there and is now green. I think the cows are happy with their showers and what difference rain makes for everyone's disposition!
Last Saturday, Wonona Makranoff took her mom, Gail Andrus, on a road trip. Gail reported that Wonona spent the night at Gail's house because they needed to be on the road by nine o'clock. They headed west, and Gail guessed they were going to the Hat for garage sales, but Wonona turned west south of Jenner. They drove for hours, and finally, in Strathmore, Wonona said she needed gas. At the gas station were Wonnita and Zane! They spent a wonderful afternoon visiting for Mother's Day.
Birthday greetings to Jack Thompson of Medicine Hat for May 17. His family plans a party to celebrate 85 years. Best wishes for many more happy birthdays, Jack.
