Assumption School Maintains High Education Standards
Outperforming the province on Assurance Results
Assumption School isn't just a place of education; it's a community dedicated to shaping the future of its students. In a time when educational standards are in constant flux, Assumption School has emerged as a steadfast pillar of academic excellence, consistently delivering top-tier education over the past three years.
Assumption’s “Growing in Knowledge, Rooted in Best Practice, Flourishing in Faith” mission statement is a reality that has propelled the school to remarkable achievements, surpassing provincial benchmarks in the Assurance Survey measures. The Alberta Education Assurance, a set of 12 performance measures, is not just a checklist for school; it's a reflection of their unwavering dedication to excellence.
Over the past three years, Assumption School hasn't just maintained educational standards; it has become a sanctuary for a consistent and high-quality, faith-based learning experience. The school’s success isn't just a statistic; it's a celebration of an environment where students thrive academically and personally.
In Teaching and Leading, Learning Supports, Student Growth and Achievement, and Citizenship, Assumption school hasn't merely met benchmarks; it has surpassed them. These achievements are the result of a collective dedication to providing an exceptional education.
While the Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) results showcase the students' academic prowess, the numbers tell only part of the story. The 100% acceptable standard and 33% standard of excellence symbolize the commitment of the educators to equip students with skills for real-world applications.
However, the report also uncovers a challenge in student engagement, a challenge that school administration sees as an opportunity for growth. The 73.5% overall result in literacy and numeracy skills is a call to action. Principal Trish Rolheiser acknowledges, “this is not just as a formality, but a genuine commitment to a comprehensive plan for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. We want to make learning more enjoyable and effective for students. This includes implementing school-wide math games, buddy reading, a structured approach from kindergarten to sixth grade, early reading intervention programs, allowing students more choices in their writing, incorporating technology, and using “picture” prompts to spark their imagination. Our dedication to improvement is more than words; it's a promise to tackle specific challenges in literacy and numeracy. We're not just talking about it; we're taking actions to ensure a positive learning experience for all our students."
Despite the challenges, Assumption School is not just proud; it is deeply gratified that all students have achieved the desired standard in the PAT results. This accomplishment reflects the depth of knowledge possessed by the staff and their unwavering commitment to equipping students for success.
“Assumption School continues to shine as a beacon of educational excellence, inspiring students to reach their full potential and fostering a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom,” added Rolheiser.
