Assumption RC staff member receives award

Last week Ms Chloe Herman was the recipient of the Christian Witness Award. Ms Herman teaches Grades 3 and 4 at Assumption Roman Catholic elementary school in Oyen.
Teacher, Tricia Rolheiser explained that the Christian Witness Award is awarded to a staff member who demonstrates exemplary leadership in the area of faith. Each year every Catholic school nominates one school employee, who makes Christ known to their community by joyfully embracing and living the Gospel and the teachings of their Catholic faith.
“Ms Herman has a strong, joyful, quiet presence, approaching each day with grace,” Ms Rolheiser explained. She generously shares her love, affection, talents and kind words with others creating an environment where her students feel loved and respected. “Ms Herman shows the students they are not only welcome but needed in her classroom.”
On a daily basis kids are checking in and telling their teacher what is going on in their lives and seeking out a hug or reassurance, which really says it all, according to Ms Rolheiser. Outside of the classroom, she’s also involved in the development of the school’s extra-curricular programs, working behind the scenes, mentoring and inspiring others. She nourishes the physical well being of her students.
“Being the heart of connection, she realizes we are a part of a greater community, and actively seeks to build connections with the community to ensure that the school successfully meets the mission of service to God’s children,” Ms Rolheiser said. “She’s at the heart of our school leading and loving our kiddos.”
Ms Herman was also recently honoured at a bridal shower held at the school, celebrating her future marriage to Regan Dick.
