Acadia Valley News: Rec Club Scholarship

By Yolanda Kuhn

The weather has been much milder this past week. We even had a few days where it snowed! I guess next week we will find out if we’re in for another six weeks of winter or not.

Congratulations to Alli Sauer (Ag Business Major at U of S) who was this year’s Rec. Club Scholarship recipient. Alli and her mount Dalley attended the Jarod Pancoast roping school in Taber. Thanks to the support of the A.V. Rec. Club Scholarship. As a member of the U of S rodeo team this is a great way to support students mental and physical health.

By the time you’re reading this the curling ice should be ready to go in the rink. We will offer drop in curling during the same hours as the Arena is open. Anyone wanting to curl can enter through the Arena and show proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. Save the date for the Ice to Dice March 3rd-5th, more details to come. Watch Facebook for more updates on the event. Contact Steve Heeg 403-664-9728.

The Rec. Club is selling 50/50’s again this month, the next draw will be February 7th. You can purchase your tickets at The Store, Skappak’s Farm Supply or a Rec. Club member.

Thanks for reading this week. In honour of Bell “Let’s talk day” I’m going to leave you with a quote from Lili Rhinehart “Asking for help is the first step … You are more precious to this world than you’ll ever know.”

Alli Sauer received the Acadia Valley Rec Club Scholarship.
