Acadia Valley News Mar 23

It’s the first week of Spring but it still doesn’t feel like it. Today they’re calling for a high of +2, the temperatures are still -10 or colder overnight. We’re going to need a lot of warm weather to melt all this snow! Hopefully there’s enough moisture to fill dugouts and maybe we will see the dam run over this year.
With the colder weather the skating ice in the Arena is still holding as well. Make sure you get out and enjoy it before it’s gone!
Last weekend Wilson’s School of Dance attended a festival in Stettler while Breaking Ground attended one in Camrose. Breaking Ground will be dancing in Medicine Hat this weekend. Also many local kids are taking part in a 3 on 3 hockey tournament in Medicine Hat.
WPS archery team consisting of Skylar Brown, Henry Mundt, Tristan Neilson, Peyton Benson, Ethan Hayhurst, Cade Wilson, Ben Knapik, and Charles Walsh traveled to Edmonton March 18th to take part in Provincials for the National Archery in Schools Program. 1526 archers took part in this tournament over 3 days. The team competed in 2 events, 3D animals and targets. Our showings were very good, with some top 20 in their category scores. We have competed in 2 tournaments and are registered for 3 more this spring.
The W.P.S. Student’s are selling hanging baskets as a fundraiser again this year. They will be delivered on May 12th (just in time for Mother’s Day).
Congratulations to Kim Mancel and Braeden Peers on the arrival of their Son Nathan Jack Peers who was born on March 13th weighing 8lbs 9.9oz and 21” long.
Sending well wishes to Barry Gustafson who was sent to Medicine Hat via Halo Air Ambulance yesterday. I cannot stress enough the importance of Halo in our community. If you’re planning on donating to any charity I highly suggest that you contribute to them. You can make donations to them directly on their website. www.haloairambulance.com
Thanks for reading this week.
I will leave you with a quote from Charles Dickens, “It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it’s summer in the light and winter in the shade”.
