Walker: Elmer Eugene, March 12, 1947 – Nov. 9, 2017
Elmer is the tenth and youngest child born to William and Mary Walker. He took his education in Oyen. During his high school years and shortly after he worked for local farmers and business. He went east to technical school to get his electronic technician papers. Upon his return to Alberta, he worked for Jack’s TV and Repair Service in Edmonton.
In 1966 he married Coleen Gayle. Of this union three children were born: Shawn William April 17, 1967, Barbara Jean October 9, 1969, and Timothy Desmond August 14, 1973. Tragically Elmer lost his daughter Barbie July 25, 1971, and son Shawn November 14, 2015.
Elmer had many jobs in his life, laborer, TV repairman, he worked for many years with the Salvation Army both in Edmonton and Saskatoon. He was employed as camp cook for an oil company as well.
At the time of his death, Elmer was residing at the St. Andrews Ukrainian Seb Home in Edmonton.
Elmer leaves to mourn his son Tim (Patricia); brothers Walter (Diane) and Allan; sister Elva Regan; sisters-in-law Doris, Jackie, Marlene, Mavis and Betty; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was predeceased by his father William in 1976, mother Mary in 1990, sister Eileen in 1939, wife Coleen in 2004, brothers Charlie in 2001, Jimmy in 2003, Erwin in 2005, Gordie in 2006, Romy in 2014, as well as brother-in-law Earl Regan and sister-in-law Gill Walker, nieces Kim and Terri Walker and nephews Brian Walker and Wayne and Randy Regan.
Elmer will be laid to rest in the Oyen Cemetery with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. May 18, 2019, followed by a time of fellowship at the Oyen All Saints Anglican Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to a charity of choice.
