Sharon Stark

STARK - Sharon Anne Stark was born on November 8, 1944 in Cereal, Alberta, daughter to Gordon and Lena Wilson. She grew up on the farm with her younger sister Pat and brother Rick and even though she moved away at a young age, she forever remained a farm girl at heart.

Sharon was fiercely loyal and protective of her family. Many times we listened to the story of when they were little, and there was a mean rooster that used to chase her brother Rick…one day the rooster crossed the line. Off went Sharon after that rooster with a broom … they ate that rooster for dinner.

When Sharon moved off the farm, she lived in Red Deer with her sister Pat, and friend Ivy finishing off grade 12. After Red Deer she relocated to Calgary, where she remained the rest of her life. She worked various jobs through the years including time at the Cereal Stockyards, and Parisian. A large chunk of her working career was spent as a medical receptionist for Dr Nels Daamgard. After Dr. Daamgard, she spent many years working for Radiology Consultants. She took great pride working at the same company as Pat and made many wonderful friendships during her time with the company.

Ray and Sharon met in Calgary and were married in 1973. They both loved to travel and explore, and spend time with family. None of us have memories of a summer that did not include camping by a train track, Sharon cleaning the trailer and Ray washing his truck. Winters were not much different with family ski trips to Fernie or Whitefish, or trips to Hawaii.

She loved camping, but she loved cleaning and organizing more. On many a camping trip, late at night, we would hear a knock on grandma and grandpas trailer asking them to check their cutlery as she was missing a fork, or a knife or something not accounted for. On our family trip to Alaska, she was given the CB handle “Mrs Clean” and it forever stuck!

When she wasn’t camping with the family, she was saving for the next big adventure with her, Ray, Pat and Rick. A favorite trip that was talked about often, was the first time they went to Australia and toured around for a month. They were lucky enough to return to Australia again and visit Jaclinn and Dan when they resided there. They made lots of memories visiting Arizona, Hawaii, Thailand and Lake Pendoreille to name a few. She also had a very memorable trip to Taiwan with Pat to visit Tricia when she was teaching English there.

Sharon was a straight shooter, and was never afraid to tell it like it is. She was charming and full of spunk. Always up for a good time and always there to help however she could. Family was everything to her, even when covid kept everyone separated, she was the first one to comment on a Facebook post or on our family chats.

We feel very blessed that we were able to spend Christmas together at the farm this year as Sharon went into the hospital with pneumonia on Dec 31 and sadly wasn’t able to recover from it.

Sharon is survived by her husband Ray, her sister Pat and brother Rick. Her stepson Dean, grandson Richard, great granddaughter Addison, and granddaughter Britteny, stepson Glenn(Amanda) their children Benjamin and Payton and stepdaughter Charlene. Her nieces, Tricia (Damian), Jaclinn (Dan) as well as her great niece Madison and great nephews Zakry, Roland and Sullivan.

Sharon was challenged with COPD, which limited her in the activities she loved to do. In lieu of flowers we ask a donation be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
