Marr: Mary Elizabeth “Betty”, Oct.4, 1945 - Sept. 11, 2018

Mary Elizabeth Marr (Betty) was born in Medicine Hat on October 4, 1945, and died peacefully on September 11, 2018, with family by her side.

Betty married the love of her life, Bud, on December 6, 1963. Together they made their home and raised their family in Youngstown. Their door was always open and everyone was welcome.

Betty loved working at Gibb’s and Sons store for many years, but she truly loved driving school bus and did so for 30 years. Elvis was an important icon in Betty’s life, both in movies and in music. She looked forward to the Tour de Canada coming through town and helping to organize an evening of potluck and visiting.

Betty was predeceased by her mother and father James and Magdalina McLennan as well as her husband of 41 years, Bud.

She will be sorely missed by her son Tim (Vicki) and their family Sammi-Jo (Kyle) Griffin, Reed and Kelton and great-grandson Ryan; daughter Tammy (Dan) and their children Dianna, Wyatt and great-grandson Zayne. Betty is also survived by her brother Lewis (Maureen), sisters Peggy and Joanne and brother Jim (Marion); as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral Service was held September 15 at the Youngstown Community Hall in Youngstown. John Armstrong was the officiant and also give a tribute.  Myrna Lyon was the organist and special music was provided by Allan Ironside. Honorary Pallbearers were Betty’s family, friends, neighbors, and school bus kids who cared and shared in her life.

Following the funeral service, family and friends were invited to a luncheon hosted by the Youngstown Community Club in the Community Hall.
