MARR: Kenneth Gordon, February 8, 1954 – September 6, 2020
FOREVER
IN OUR HEARTS
Ken spent his entire school years in Cereal and started working at the BA Gas Station when he was just 12. In 1970, he started a lengthy career in different aspects of plowing telephone cable for Drain Brothers and AGT which later became Telus.
Ken and Shirley (Rude) married in 1976, moved to Stettler and were blessed with three children: Carley (1981), Heather (1984) and Jordan (1986). They spent many years being a part of the community. Ken enjoyed golfing, curling and snowmobiling and loved going to the fishing camp at Careen Lake.
In 2002, Ken retired from Telus after 31 years and 8 months of service. While retiring at a young age, he tried his hand in the oil patch for a short time but went back to the telephone industry as an Inspector for Bell. He formed his own company and went splicing telephone cable until 2018 at which time he fully retired.
Ken started a life with Linda Hummel and they spent the summer months in Lacombe County and the winter months in Yuma, Arizona, where they made many friends and enjoyed driving in the desert with the Desert Ratz, going to Mexico and attending air and car shows.
Ken loved to bake, especially donuts and biscuits, and making home made noodles. He was a whistler who loved music and loved to dance. Another great love were his four puppies: Chico, Amy, Lulu and Chica. Even though he loved them dearly he was the first one to swear at them. He loved spending time with Linda’s daughter, Jennifer and Troy and all of his grandchildren Chayton, Harper and Ethan.
Ken is predeceased by his parents, Lester and Mary Marr and the majority of his aunts, uncles and some cousins.
He is survived by his life partner Linda Hummel and her family, Shirley Marr and his three children, Carley (Craig) Callaghan, Heather (Terry Chu) Marr and Jordan Marr and grandchildren, Chayton Callaghan, Harper and Ethan Scheck; brothers, Gary (Gail) Marr, Jim (Wendy) Marr, Brent (Denise) Marr, Lynn (Diane) Marr and sister Gail (Emile) Blokland, Aunt Brenda Marr and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
