Kandace Fode

FODE - Kandace Lee Fode was born on March 29, 1988, in Hanna, Alberta. She was the first of three daughters to Rod and Denise Hertz; and was raised in New Brigden, Acadia Valley, Oyen, and Okotoks. Kandace was a loving, sensitive child and always cared for her sisters, friends, and others. Growing up, she had many hobbies; she participated in 4H, took piano lessons, and helped on the farm. She and her sisters were always together, having fun.

Kandace graduated from Holy Trinity Academy in Okotoks in 2006. From there, she began her career in various administrative roles. She worked for numerous oil & gas, agriculture, and sales companies. Kandace made many friends in her workplace, friendships that would last her entire life. Her work was always detailed & focused, a true testament to her parents’ work ethic passed down to her. Kandace spent many hours with friends & family in her free time- dirt biking, going to concerts, curling bonspiels, and camping. Times spent with Kandace were filled with good food, drinks, and laughter. She was a source of joy to many people, blessing them with her sweet disposition and friendship.

Kandace and Ben met in 2010 through a mutual friend. Ben proposed to Kandace on Christmas Eve, 2015, and they married on July 29, 2017. From there, they lived their married life in Elnora, Alberta. Their home was one of comfort & love, surrounded by friends & family.

Kandace passed away peacefully in the Red Deer hospital surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 33 years of age. Kandace is predeceased by her Mother Denise Hertz in 2019 and Mother-in-law Coral Craig in 2016.

Kandace is survived by her husband Ben, her father Rod, her sisters Amanda (Micah) McQuaid and Jolene (Cam) Helm, and multiple nieces & nephews. She is also survived by brothers and sisters of the Craig family, brothers and sisters of the Fode family, Mahura, and Hertz families. Her life was blessed by a bountiful amount of friends & family.

A Funeral Service was held for Kandace Wednesday January 19, 2022 at St. Anne of the Prairies Catholic Church in Trochu, Alberta.
