With great sadness we announce the death of Adam Hertz at Rocky Mountain House at the age of 87 years.

Adam was born in New Brigden, Alberta on January 25, 1933, to parents Innozenz and Frances Hertz. He was one of 12 children who were raised on the farm. He later joined the Air Force where he was stationed in Ontario.

It was there that he met and married his loving wife of 47 years Anne in 1956. Adam and Anne moved back to Alberta and lived in various communities throughout the province. Family was especially important to Adam and Anne and they raised five children together.

Throughout his life Adam was active in the church and community, volunteering his time and talents. They were very happy together until Anne’s death in 2003. They moved to Rocky Mountain House in 1975 when he started a position at Quinn Contracting Ltd. He worked for Quinn until his retirement in 1998. He was a very hardworking man who loved his job and enjoyed his many years of employment there.

Adam was fortunate enough to find love a second time in his later years and married Muriel in 2007. Adam and Muriel were a very special couple who brought happiness to each other’s lives. They enjoyed travelling, socializing with friends and family and spending their time doting on and taking care of one another.

Adam will be remembered as a true storyteller right until the end. He loved sharing conversation with people and was a friendly outgoing person. His smile was infectious, and he enjoyed a good laugh. Adam always enjoyed visiting and sharing a beer with friends at the Legion, where he was a proud member for 63 years.

Adam will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Muriel, his daughters: Shelley (Ronald), Sheila (Trevor); son Greg; his grandchildren: William, Katelyn, AJ, Tyler, Jared, Lorianne, Travis and Amanda; great-grandchildren: Thomas, Noah, Asher and Beau; his sister Alice; Muriel’s children: Donald (Joanne), and Karla; Muriel’s many grandchildren, plus numerous family members, in-laws, and friends.

Adam was predeceased by his first wife Anne, his sons Thomas and Jeffery, his parents and 10 siblings.

A memorial service was held at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home February 28 at 11 a.m. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium.

A luncheon followed at the Royal Canadian Legion #8.

Memorial donations in Adam’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
