Allen: Audrey May, January 8, 1936 – March 2, 2019
Audrey May Allen died March 2, 2019, at the Big Country Hospital, Oyen.
Audrey was the third child born to Wilfred and Jean Adams in Kindersley, Saskatchewan January 8, 1936, and was raised on the family farm near Pinkham. She attended a small country school until moving to the dorm and graduating high school in Kindersley.
Audrey was married to the love of her life, Hugh Allen for 63 years. After their marriage November 12, 1955, they moved into their first home in Flaxcombe, Saskatchewan. Their first child, Ardene, was born the following year and 14 months later son Perry was born. Four years later the family moved along with their small house to Oyen. In 1963, Hugh and Audrey built a new home and also welcomed their third child Leslie.
Audrey stayed home and raised her children along with a few other children whom she babysat. Two of which Tracey and Erin (Mick) Logan remained very dear to Audrey’s heart. She then worked at the Oyen Pharmacy for several years, and later at the family farm equipment dealership. As a homemaker, she was a very good cook and had a special knack with cookies and pie.
Audrey and Hugh enjoyed many winters in Yuma, AZ until she became too ill to travel. She spoke often of her many Arizona friends. In Yuma, she enjoyed Monday evening dances, Saturday morning golf at Par 3, watching Hugh play ball with the Desert Dinosaurs especially their Sunday morning games against the “Mexican Family” and when she could convince Hugh to take her to the “Q” to try and wrangle a little cash out of her favourite video poker machine.
Audrey and Hugh enjoyed travel to Yugoslavia, Jamacia, Australia and other trips as well as many motorhome adventures to rodeos and other events.
She was an active member of the Kinette Club, Eastern Star and the curling club. She also enjoyed watching Perry play hockey as he was growing up and later watching her grandchildren in their many activities. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy to her. She cherished each and every one of them.
Audrey will be missed by her husband Hugh; daughter Ardene (Duff) Carroll; son Perry (Kathy) Allen; daughter Leslie and son-in-law Greg Srogen; and seven grandchildren Jeffrey (Robin) Holmans with their children Keaton, Libby, and Brenner; Denelle (Jamie) Cutler with their children Brinn, and Colton; Jared (Karen) Holmans with their children Jordis, Taylor and Hunter; Charles (Brittany) Allen with their children Kaleb and Bowen; Kayle, Quincie and Cassidy Srogen; Joanne Rodwell and her family.
