Letter to the Editor: World power situation is at a tipping point
It seems today we are concerned about President-elect Trump and his selection of people to form his upcoming administration. While this should concern us, something happening on the world stage should be far more concerning to us than the rise of MAGA in the States.
I am referring to the close alliance rapidly developing between Putin of Russia and Kim of North Korea. Things are rapidly coming to a head. Several thousand North Korean soldiers have been sent to Ukraine to assist Putin in his conquest of that country. There has been an increased exchange of atomic energy information between the two countries. Also, North Korea has stepped up its production of war equipment and made it quite accessible to Russia when needed.
What concerns me is that if Trump thinks that he can use his “magnetic“ personality to become “buddy-buddy “with these two dictators, he will be sadly mistaken. It will be like a newcomer from an old gang trying to gain membership and respect from an old adversary, and even though Trump, during his last administration, claimed to have had a “bromance” with Kim, he will be treated with little or no respect whatsoever. Let’s face it: for decades, both of these countries have had a big axe to grind with the United States, and their respective leaders will be making demands that will make Trump and his inexperienced administration wonder what hit them.
In my opinion, the world power situation is at a tipping point, and it’s not looking good.
