The show continued to run on time with the steer interclub grooming and showmanship competition.  We enjoyed a supper break of beef on a bun supper (sponsored by CNRL) and awards presentations.  District Grand and Reserve Champions were slapped at 6:30 and presented with their buckle presentation.  The sale started at 7 pm with Olds Auction Mart and DLMS at ringside.  The steers averaged 1385 lbs and sold for an average of 4.96/lb. Lambs average $8.50/lb, and swine averaged 6.75/lb. The sale was outstanding, and local support was exceptional.

The sale finished with the charity calf, Big Mac, which was donated by the Adam & Brandi Smith family. Animal husbandry was donated by Footprint Farms, Travis & Nichole Foot family. Feed for the steer was sponsored by Steve & Sandra Rude.  This year, the district chose The Ronald McDonald House as its charity and raised over $35,000!  The beef was donated to the Oyen and Hanna food banks. More support came from RES (Renewable Energy Solutions), which donated the cutting and wrapping of the beef to the food banks. The district is so proud and thankful to our wonderful community for their generous support.

The district would also like to thank Tanner Madge for his exceptional photographs over the two days. Thank you to Jordan Christianson for announcing on Saturday and Kerry Molzan for being our barn boss. Thank you to our ring ladies, Vanessa Hadwin, Megan Conners, and Hannah Wagstaff. Thank you to Diane Westerlund for marking judging cards. Thank you to the Big Country Ag Society for their continued support of our 4H program.
